Özet (EN)

Diabetes, which is the most common reason of cronic renal failure, causes serious functional and structural complications. In diabetes treatment improving oxidative stress negative effects is important as well as insülin administration. In this study we intend to investigate the effects of taurin on PPAR?, IRS-1, HSP-27, HSP-72 levels in streptozotocin induced diabetic rats. The study conducted according to the ethic rules of standard experimental animal studies includes 40 Wistar albino male rats separated into four groups during 8 weeks. For the control group, serum physiologic; for taurine group, 2% taurine added to the drinking water; for STZ group, 60 mgkg i.p. (single dose) and for STZ+Taurine group, Taurine and STZ are made use of. The study results shows that there is significant difference among the groups when the PPAR? (p<0.01), IRS-1 (p<0.001), HSP-27 (p<0.01) and HSP-72 (p<0.001) levels are examined. In PPAR? (p>0.05), IRS-1 (p>0.05), HSP-27 (p>0.05) and HSP-72 (p>0.05) levels in the Taurine groups, no significant difference is seen in terms control group but in PPAR? (p<0.01), IRS-1 (p<0.001) and HSP-72 (p<0.001) levels in the STZ groups a significant decrease is found. On the other hand, a clear increase is found in HSP-27 (p<0.01) level in the STZ group. Moreover, while an increase in PPAR? (p<0.05), IRS-1 (p<0.001) and HSP-72 (p<0.05) levels are seen in the STZ + Taurine groups; in HSP-27 (p<0.05) level a decrease is seen compared to the STZ groups. No pathology is found in kidneys taken from the rats in taurine and control groups. But in STZ groups it is seen histopathological changes in kidney tissues. Finally, it is understood that in Taurine + STZ group, intensity of histopathology changes which STZ induced has decreased. According to these results, it can be said that the taurine application has slowing and curing effects on the rats whose diabetic neuropathy is done through STZ. Key Words: Diabetes, STZ, Taurine, PPAR?, IRS-1, HSP-27, HSP-72.
