Standard features and loom reed weaving in Çal, Güney and Serinhisar the counties of Denizli

The present thesis is intended both to examine the production technique of loom reed weaving, produced in Çal, Güney and Serinhisar, the counties of Denizli, the equipments used, the features of motif, colour and the arranging, usage fields, the contribution to the economy of the district, and the features and to ask for the ideas of the people who wave in those districts.The present search includes the loom reed weaving and the ideas of weavers. To this end, the information associated with the topic is found in literature and the addend information, after being evaluated, is used in the part of Theoretical Basis. 50 people who wave lood reed are interviewed with and the questionnaire that is prepared under the supervision of an expert is applied. The results obtained from the questionnaire are evaluated under the appropriate titles and interpreted. In accordance with the prepared information form, the 50 examples of loom reed weaving are analyzed in a detailed way and in the light, this knowledge, information about the size, density, the weaving method, the type of yarn, colour, motif and the arranging of the weaving examples is given.According to the findings of the researches in Çal, Güney and Serinhisar the counties of Denizli it is possible to say that middle-age people are more interested in loom reed weaving in the region. Generally, women are more interested in loom reed weaving. Men are busy with agriculture and stockbreeding since they are responsible for housekeeping. When their education status is considered, it is possible to say that the individuals are mostly graduated from primary school.It is clear that the wooden loom and loom reed are the mostly used devices in the weaving process and the vertical (ıstar) loom is used as a type of the loom. It is necessary that the textiles must have a certain quality. The standart of the loom must be improved in order to effectuate the quality. The standard of loom reed weaving is created for the region by defining the features of the equipments, technique, colour, motif and arranging with the help of evidences derived from the survey.With the evidences acquired, the standard of loom reed weaving of the region is deducted.
