Denizli province the traffic noise pollution map

The process of rapid urbanization and industrialization has brought about many environmental problems. One of them is noise. The most important source of noise in the cities that created by motor vehicles and creates traffic.In this study, Denizli and road traffic noise in the junction of the intense level of determination and determination of related factors in light of the data obtained was to create noise maps.Intersections and on main arteries for it will make noise measurements at 56 different measurement points identified. Measurements between 15 April-31 Mayıs.2009 weekday hours as traffic is concentrated in the morning 7:45 to 9:15 pm, lunch 12:00 to 13:30 hours, evenings 16:45 to 18:15 hours between the bands. Measured noise level measurements at the edge of the road or the junction of the road looking at the edges of the sidewalk, was made at a height of 1.5 m from the ground. The data obtained from the Assessment and Management of Environmental Noise Regulation (ÇGDYY) compared with the limits. Moreover, the number of vehicles passing the measuring point, traffic light status, environmental factors such as the density index was also investigated the effects of the noise level.Determined the average equivalent noise levels, 70.9 dBA morning, 69.0 dBA noon and 70.8 dBA evening. All points of measurement; 89.3% morning , noon 75% and evening exceeded the limit level ÇGDYY observation was that traffic noise pollution in Denizli indicate serious problem. The average number of vehicles passing the traffic light at the point of the high points of the measured noise levels were found to e higher level. Environmental index and the intensity of a significant relationship between the noise level was observed The coordinates of measurement points, were determined using Magellan Explorist GPS handheld. ArcGIS 9.0 software for data obtained using the IDW interpolation method, noise maps have been created.Prepared these maps, satellite images coinciding with the city of Denizli affected by traffic noise and the main access road of the city's business areas where lines are abundant.Key Words: noise levels, traffic, noise map
