Evalution of supply chain management of goverment and private dialiysis centers in denizli

Aim : The aim of this research was to find out the differences of supply chain manangement between goverment and private dialysis centers in Denizli, hence evaluating the supply chain management of private and goverment health sectors.Methods: This research took place in five private and four goverment dialysis centers in Denizli. Managers responsible for the dialysis center were given a questionnaire of 18 questions about the dialysis center. Another 46 question questionnaire about the supply chain mamagement was administered to the other 86 personnel working in the dailysis centers. SPSS 15.0 for Windows was used for statistical analysis . Data was summarised as means, frequencies and percentages. Chi-square, Man-Whitney and t-test were used for comparisons.Results: When government and private dialysis centers were compared it was observed that the supply chain management was appropriate for government run dialysis centers. There was no significant statistical difference between the use of materials (supplies) (p>0,05). As for the prices of materials; there was a statistical difference between the prices of the dialysis materials; such as dialysate and syringes in favor of government run dialysis centers (p=0,024, p=0,014) and for the dialyzer in favor of the privately run dialysis centers(p=0,024). There was a significant statistical difference between the answers given in the 8 sections of the components of the supply chain management of the employees who worked in the government and private diaylsis centers (p=0,000).Conclusion: It was concluded that the supply chain mamagements of the government dialysis centers worked according to the quality management system. However, according to the private dialysis centers employees thought that their supply chain management was much better than the government dialysis centers.Key Words: supply chain management, goverment and private health sectors, the quality of health practice.
