Abstract (EN)

Today, with the effect of globalization and the increase in world trade, demand for maritime transport has been increasing. Although each mode of transportation has its own advantages and disadvantages, when the ease of transporting the cargo offered by the container is combined with the advantages of maritime transport, the share and importance of maritime container transport increases even more. Due to the complex structure of the transportation system surrounded by networks and the large number of parties involved, disruptions may occur in the system from time to time. In terms of seaborne container transportation, it is seen that shipping lines frequently deviate from the transit times announced in their vessel scchedules. This situation negatively affects all stakeholders in the supply chain and logistics processes from different aspects. The main problem of the study is the transit time reliability problem of shippping lines. The aim of the study within the framework of this problem can be summarized as making the transit time analysis of the shipping lines using Turkish ports in seaborne container transportation, revealing the current situation in this issue and evaluating the reasons. For this purpose, transit time deviations on a day basis were calculated for the selected routes by comparing the planned transit times reported by the shipping lines before the voyage and the transit times realized on the basis of transports. In addition to descriptive statistics, hypotheses formed within the framework of factors that may affect transit times were tested by applying One Way ANOVA and Independent Samples T-Test, and the findings were interpreted.
