Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, it is aimed to reveal the opinions about the work carried out with the psychological counselors and guidance teachers working within the scope of psychosocial support services in the Malatya earthquake region after the 6.8 magnitude earthquake in Elazığ/Sivrice on January 24, 2020. The research was carried out by using the phenomenological design, one of the qualitative research models, with the focus group interview method. 11 psychological counselors and guidance teachers participated in the focus group discussion. During the interview, video and audio recordings were taken and the interviews were deciphered. Content analysis method was used to analyze the findings. When the findings of the study were examined, psychological counselors and guidance teachers experienced feelings of fear, anxiety, panic, and feeling that something bad was happening during the earthquake. It is understood that they act primarily with a sense of benevolence in participating in psychosocial support activities. The sources of motivation for participating in studies are encouragement and prior experiences. In the title of encouragement, RAM's support, experience, participation in the coordination meeting and communication with colleagues are intensely included. They do not feel professionally competent before starting psychosocial support activities. Afterwards, as a result of the picture encountered in the earthquake region, results were obtained in terms of overcoming the first shock and ensuring integration into the situation. Having to say goodbye to earthquake survivors with traumatic, economic and psychological problems has deeply affected psychological counselors and guidance teachers. In addition, the planning process to increase the efficiency of their work is another issue that occupies the minds of psychological counselors and guidance teachers. The fact that some of the relatives of the people who died due to the earthquake found solace in death was found to be the most extraordinary event. It was observed that the expectations and suggestions of psychological counselors and guidance teachers regarding post-disaster psychosocial support studies were presented for different fields. These areas are; Psychological Counselor and Guidance Teacher Training, Management, Visibility, Psychosocial Support Studies, Follow-up, Equipment and Continuity. The results were obtained as preparation for crisis and trauma situations, more warm-up activities training, continuous updating of the trainings of psychosocial support teams, training from experienced psychological counselors and trainings should be given by MEB and RAM experts.
