Abstract (EN)
With the calculations made without considering the existing partition walls in the buildings, the evaluations of the important parameters such as the natural period of the building, earthquake load, earthquake load amount transferred to each column and beam, irregularity in the building, total strength of the building against the earthquake, the type of collapse that can occur under the earthquake can be missed. The reason why the partition walls are not considered in the calculations is that the contribution of the partition walls to the rigidity is not definite and the calculation difficulty of the proposed models. In this study, the mathematical model of the partition walls is established and what kinds of effects there are available on a building whose shear wall strengthening is made has been examined. The models having the different partition wall area in the existing building have been formed and their effects on the buildings and the element damage situations under the earthquake loads and their irregularities have been analyzed. When the walls are considered, their effects on a building strengthened with the shear walls have been examined and their comparisons have been made with their situations in which the walls have not been included to the calculations. In a dormitory building dealt in the study realized, its behavior under the earthquake loads has been examined by also considering the situation without the partition wall and the existing partition wall cross-sectional areas and the changes in the dominant periods, lap shears, base shears, element damage situations and impact/capacity ratios have been followed. Similarly, while the existing situation of the building has been strengthened with the shear walls without considering the partition walls, the reinforcement is made with the shear walls when the partition walls are considered, and the partition wall effects on the buildings strengthened with the shear wall have been analyzed. When the partition walls are considered, it has been determined that there are decreases in the impact/capacity ratios used for the determination of the element damage situations and there are increases in the building rigidity. It has been determined that this situation has also reduced the cross sectional area of the shear walls in the building by approximately 20% in the building in which the strengthening is made with the shear wall.
