A research on psychological well-being and perception of God in earthquake victims: The case of Kahramanmaraş earthquake

On February 6, 2023, 2 major earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş occurred and affected 11 provinces.There was great destruction in the cities and it was reported that more than 50 thousand people lost their lives and more than 100 thousand people were injured. It is very likely that such a major disaster will have a negative psychological effect on the victims, but the meaning of events and situations may vary according to the perceptions of the individuals. At this point, the studies have shown that religion and perceptions of religion also have an effect on the psychological state of the individual. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the relationship between the earthquake victim's perception of God and the psychological well-being of the individual. In this direction, the study was conducted by applying the Psychological Well-Being Scale (PİOÖ) and God Perception Scale (TA) to 280 individuals between the ages of 18-65 who experienced the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş. In addition, demographic form information was taken in order to see whether there was an effect related to demographic information. The data were collected in a computer environment. The study has a cross-sectional study design. While analyzing the study, correlation analyses, ANOVA and t-Test analyses were performed to examine the data.
