Investigation of parental relationships of adolescents with diagnosis of depression

Attachment is described with emotional connect between child-mother or child-who takes care to child. Child experience different period of development and different attachment relations throughout life. One of this development period 's name is adolescence. Attachment relations in adolescence are significantly different the other previous development period's attachment relations. Attachment relations in adolescence mainly affected by peer and romantic partner. If an adolescent doesnt have to a healthy relations with peers or family, it can be a reason for some psychopathological problem in adolescence. The aim of this research is adolescent who get depression and go on the treatment process search parental attachment relationship and contribute to literature or professional interventions for social work discipline. The population of the resarch is composed of adolescent who live in Sivas and are between 13-18 age group, get depression and go on the treatment process. 100 adolescent selected by the purposive sampling method from the population constitute the sample of resarch. The Parental Bonding Instrument was used to measure the parental attachment relationship with family. Adolescent who participate this resarch, to determine some of sociodemographic atributes on parental attachment relationship. On the purpose of determine this relationship, was used One way ANOVA, independent sample (Ttest) are used to calculation for scale. Correlation method used for evaluate to relations between variables that look like relations each other. According to this research's result, there is significant correlation between father's working status and father relation total point. Also there is a meaningful difference between participating some social activity (Sport, cultural and study) mother and father relation total point. Moreover there is significant correlation between signs of depression process and father relation total point. Keywords: Attachment, Depression in Adolescence, Social Work.
