Concordance and functional glossary of Gazavatname-i Midilli Work By Dervish Gubari

The words gradually digressed from what they used to mean over time, and it became difficult to understand these words in later periods. Various works and dictionaries have been prepared to prevent this complexity of meaning and to explain the meaning bette1r. This study contains both the concordance and functional glossary of Gazavat-name- i Midilli Masnavi by Gubari, the 16th century divan poet. It has been attempted to find out how the words in the works vary according to the context in which they are used and have earned connotations.Thus, ıt is aimed to prepare the functional glossary of Gazavat-name- i Midilli. There is a work Gazavat-name- i Midilli (Midilli Story) which Ömer Özkan has prepared in respect of Gazavat-name- i Midilli. Our study is based on this work. Thus, it is aimed to bring out the peculiar vocabulary of the poet by combining the meanings of the rich vocabulary used by Gubari in his work with the meanings of the words, Thereby, the concordance and functional dictionary of Gazavat-name- i Midilli Masnavi, which has not been extensively discussed up to now, was created. In this study, it is aimed to contribute to the information about historical glossary studies, Ottoman culture, war tactics, methods, war devices, geographical place names, historical figures, maritime techniques, some behaviors and beliefs, especially the exposition of the poets own style and stylistic works. While the meanings of the words are being explained, it is tried to reflect the most accurate meaning that Gubari put into words in his poems by means of former and later studies, as mentioned in the bibliography section.
