In this study, we aimed to investigate that effects of adrenaline on QTc interval at different adrenaline concentrations applied to patients undergoing nasal surgery under desflurane anesthesia for bleeding control. After obtaining the approval of the Faculty Ethics Committe and taking informed consent from patients, 65 patients with ASA I risk group between 18-40 years old were included in the study. The patients, immediality after plasement of nasal tampons with adrenaline concentrations or isotonic saline, divided into three groups. QTc values at preoperative 1st hour were determined by ECG. After the application of 0.05 mg/kg midazolam for premedication, the induction was achived by giving 0.2-0.5 mg/kg etomidate, 1?g/kg fentanyl and 0.1 mg/kg vecuronium bromide intravenously to patients. After endotracheal intubation, patients breathing was mechanically maintained by giving desflurane at 4-6 % concentrations within 50% O2 + 50% air. ECG recordings were taken at these periods which were immediately after the anesthesia induction, 1stminute after intubation, after placement of nasal tampons with adrenaline or isotonic saline, immediately after the removal of tampons, 5th minutes after desflurane administration, 30th minute under the anesthesia with desflurane, when patient awake after desflurane cut and postoperative 1st hour. QTc intervals were calculated with Bazett formula. After endotracheal intubation, tampons were placed by the surgeon who did not know tampons content. At the end of the operation, the quality of operation areas was assessed by the surgeons who performed the operations with using the scale of 6 points. The reduction of bleeding amount in Group A1 was highly significant when compared to other groups (p<0.001). In all groups, the prolongation of QTc values in the application of desflurane at 5th and 30th minutes was significant (p<0.05). As a result, adrenaline used at different concentrations decreased the amount of bleeding and provided a clear operation area. Desflurane caused to prolongation of QTc interval in all groups, it?s concluded that QTc interval had prolanged by desflurane application used of adrenaline had no effect on QTc.Keywords: Bleeding control, Adrenaline, Desflurane, QTc
