Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, design of terahertz phase shifters is aimed. The electromagnetic wave propagation through a corrugated surface waveguide, namely domino plasmons, is analyzed in terms of surface plasmons. Drude model and Drude-Lorentz model are utilized in analysis and simulations of the propagation of the electromagnetic wave along domino plasmons in addition to transmission band estimation and simulations of domino plasmons. Transitions from coplanar waveguide and rectangular waveguide to corrugated planar Goubau lines are also investigated. A new type of waveguide is invented during investigation of the transition from rectangular waveguide to corrugated planar Goubau lines. Moreover, the effective dielectric constant of corrugated planar Goubau lines is modeled at either X-band and terahertz band. Two different design approach of eleven different phase shifters at 250, 275, and 300 GHz are presented. Finally, since this thesis work be expanded by addition of MEMS switches, the realization and optimization of various MEMS fabrication techniques are summarized
