Determination of outdoor usage possibilities in kindergarten gardens:examples from İstanbul Anatolian Side

In today's cities, considering that the school building and garden where children spend most time, kindergarten gardens and games played in the gardens have great importance for the healthy progress of children's physical, mental and mental development. The aim of this study is to determine the optimum conditions for outdoor usage in kindergartens by synthesizing many studies in the literature and to determine the extent to which these conditions are provided in some kindergartens on the İstanbul Anatolian side. In order to reach the aim, an observation form consisting of 30 criteria was formed which evaluates the use of school gardens. the selected 10 different school gardens have examined whether it meets the necessary criteria and scoring is done. As a result of the scoring, it was found that all of the school gardens were in the middle-level and fine-level representation group. As a result, suggestions were made to kindergartens for the development of optimum outdoor usage opportunities. Keywords: Kindergarten garden, Outdoor design, Playing, Healthy growing
