Abstract (EN)

There is a quite low number of method books written for the viola in our country and the world. Usually, violin method books are adapted for viola since the viola is played with a technique similar to the violin. Especially with the education system in our country changing twice in the last 23 years, it is seen that the age of starting to play an instrument has changed many times over the years. However, considering the changing conditions, an original study in which problems with the viola were considered could not be carried out. This thesis titled A Review for State Conservatories Secondary School Viola Lesson Curricula and a Proposal of a Method Book for Beginners aims to examine the curriculum structures of the 1st year of state conservatories that accept students from the 5th grade from the secondary education in our country and put forward a proposal of a viola method book for beginners suitable for today's conditions and needs. In this way, it is aimed to contribute to the viola education in our country and to eliminate the lack of original resources for trainers and students. In the first chapter of the study, the development of viola education in our country and in the world and the problems faced by students and teachers in viola education are discussed. The second chapter is based on examining the 5th-grade curriculum structures of 10 state conservatories that receive students from secondary education in our country and then determining what is needed in a viola method book for beginners under the conditions of our country. In the third chapter, however, the focus is on putting forward a proposal of a method book for beginners in the light of the data presented. In conclusion, a viola method book for beginners, consisting of 38 study studies in total, including 14 different exercises, four one-octave scales, four two-octave scales, arpeggios, string forms, thirds and six duets that reinforce the tonalities in question, has been put forward based on the scales, methods and piano pieces commonly used by conservatories admitting students from secondary education.
