The use of the musical works of turkish composers in Singing Lessons At State Conservatory?s Stage Arts Department Opera Branch

Master?s, Music Education DepartmentThesis Advisor: Assistant Professor Ferda GÜRGAN ÖZTÜRKThe research aims analyzing the usage of the pieces of Turkish Composers in?singing? classes in Opera Main Art Branch of Performance Arts Department in PublicConservatoires and proposes ways to develop the usage of these pieces.The environment of this study is based on the State Conservatory in Turkey.Conservatories which have Stage Art Departments' Opera Main Art Branch in theirConservatory programs are the sample of this research.The questionnaires were administeredat the universities namely Ankara University state Conservatory, Hacettepe University StateConservatory, Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory, Mersin University StateConservatory, Anadolu University State Conservatory, Cukurova University StateConservatory, Dokuz Eylul University State Conservatory, Zonguldak Karaelmas Universitystate Conservatory and Istanbul University State Conservatory.Data, deriving from the surveys, points that there is not enough emphasize on thepieces of Turkish Composers in the process of vocal training and these pieces are hard to findespecially in terms of printed media.This research states that the pieces of Turkish Composers should be used more in?singing classes? and introduces the lack of printed media about these pieces, based on theidea of ?Using and teaching our traditional music in musical training programs is importantfor our musical culture.?Science Code : Fine Arts Department Music Teaching BranchKey Words : Opera, Voice EducationNumber of Pages : 95Thesis Advisor : Assistant Professor Ferda GÜRGAN ÖZTÜRK
