Being a director in the Diaspora cinema: Fatıh Akın and Ferzan Ozpetek sample

Even though there are different reasons, the concept of immigration still exists. Migration and immigration have an evolving and expanding communication network. Accordingly, migration varies both quantitatively and qualitatively. As a natural consequence of this situation, changes in the expression of migrants occur and a hybrid and unique structure emerges. The examination of this structure, which emerged in cinema, is very important in order to make sense of the state of change. In this study, firstly, the concepts of culture and migration are discussed in order to analyze the diasporic / ethnic indicators correctly. Then, in order to define and use the analysis techniques included in the study, it is assumed that the study area consists of a dramatic structure within the frame of visual materials and the semiotics and structuralist narrative theory is summarized. In this context, Greimas's "narrative schema: Quintet example" is used as analysis technique. Another analysis technique, Geert Hofstede's ''onion diagram'', is used to identify the diasporic / ethnic concepts in the films examined. Three films have ''been'' chosen from Ferzan Ozpetek and Fatih Akın's filmography in chronological order. These selected films are analyzed using descriptive analysis and discourse analysis around the questions of the study. The aim of this qualitative study is to examine the diasporic / ethnic concepts of Ferzan Ozpetek and Fatih Akın cinema and to reveal the semantic and formal changes of these concepts.
