Dicle University Hospitals hospital disaster plan and emergency management

Management in disasters; It is a process that requires the management and direction of all institutions and organizations of the society and its resources in order to reveal, direct, coordinate and effectively implement the principles of all the works that need to be done in order to prevent disasters and reduce their damages. In disasters, especially the management of health services is a priority issue, and the fact that the personnel who have been trained in this regard beforehand increases the effectiveness of the services. Our study is an observational study reviewing the hospital's disaster management and discussing the disaster management of 3 cases that have occurred before, retrospectively. The first case is the LPG-vehicle explosion incident on the Diyarbakır-Lice highway in 2014. The second case is the explosion that occurred during the rally in Diyarbakır in 2015. The third case is the fire incident that occurred in the radiology department of our hospital (Dicle University hospital) in 2017. 69 patients were affected in the first event and 102 patients were affected in the second event. In the third incident, 2 operating room personnel were affected, the intensive care units were evacuated and the ongoing surgeries were terminated. As a result, necessary information and regulations should be made throughout the country on natural disasters, and necessary training should be given. Adequate health institutions, health workers and necessary medical equipment and materials should be available to manage a natural disaster that occurs at any time.
