Dicle Universty waste management in campus area planning research and determination of waste composition

The purpose of this study is provide the most appropriate and regulatory requirements for a sustainable environment programming, a solid waste management plan in Dicle University campus area. It is a descriptive study in the type of research and screening. In this research, the borders are composed of students who study at Dicle University in the academic year of 2015-2016. 742 students were selected as sample to represent the borders of university students. Students' opinions were collected, Faculty / Department were selected with random sample selection method. The "Environmental Consciousness" questionnaire developed by the researcher was used for the collection of data. The data collection tool used is aimed at determining the demographic characteristics of university students and the environmental problems they encounter within the campus area of the Dicle University and recommending solutions to these problems. 96.5 % of the students are not members of any non-governmental organization that has environmental activities In the environmental awareness survey, 51 % participated in the environmental activity, 87.3 % would like to have environmental education on campus, 39.8% said that the most important environmental problem on campus is solid wastes and garbage, 56.1 % of the respondents said that I did not do anything when I encountered any environmental problem on the campus, With 62.5 % of the respondents, the most important cause of environmental problems is the lack of education and irresponsibility, 50.8 % have knowledge of recycling, while 43.9 % are careful not to throw away recycling packages, 48.8 % say the green areas on campus are inadequate, 71 % dispose of waste batteries to rubbish, The environmental awareness lesson should be added to the curriculum of all education units with 23.3 % in the name of solution of environmental problems on the campus area. Homemade garbages on the campus are composed of construction and excavation waste, park and garden waste from green areas, recycling waste, hazardous waste, medical waste, waste batteries. Considering the results from the environmental awareness survey and the most appropriate waste management plan has been prepared by the campus in line with the waste management regulations in order to properly dispose or evaluate the wastes generated in the campus environment.
