Female sensibility in Didem Madak's poetry

Didem Madak who has 3 poetry books in her 41 year of life holds the mission of being the voice of repressed, silenced and iterated women in society. She has hugged the poesy while not ignoring her femininity and has opposed the pattern of patriarchal mentality with her poetic language. It is obviously seen that she has not opened up a new field apart from her femininity and mentions her daily household life in her poems such as making colorful jams, mint drying, washing clothes, sleeping the baby, resting in balcony etc. The poet does not bow down to patriarchal language, stands against male-dominants and demands death penalty without fear. But she refuses to be hanged by an ordinary rope because being hanged with her brassiere would make her death meaningful. The poet, who is thought to be supposed to sentence to capital punishment, rejects the ordinary method of death penalty which represents the patriarchal mentality over the centuries. The desire of her to end her life with an object associated with femininity again shows her determination and fearless attitude in terms of female sensitivity. Didem Madak expresses ironically that she has to confront with the rising walls in front of her while she handles her motherhood and wifehood and reacts to the femininity mission systemized by social norms. The poem of Madak which advises to be illegal to female heroes who are passive, silent and continue to wait without knowing what they expect are also a rebellion to male dominated mindset. In this thesis, the poems of Didem Madak in "Grapon Kağıtları, Ah'lar Ağacı and Pulbiber Mahallesi" are discussed in 3 sections: female sensitivity, fear and passivity, helplessness and siege. Under the title of helplessness and siege, main themes of women's sensibility which are mother, father, child, social life, system criticism, religion and patriarchal system were examined.
