Abstract (EN)
Transition to information society has accelerated since 1990 when the use of an the internet became widespread. However, this transition came with the digital divide, the ability or disability to use the digital Technologies, which resulted in the emergence of two groups: Digital natives, who were born into and have grown up with digital Technologies; and digital immigrants, who appreciate that technological developments are important, however cannot catch up with them. The purpose of the present research entitled as "Digital Natives and Immigrants Use of Mobile Internet for Access to News: The Case of Anadolu University Faculty of Communication Sciences" is to explore the differences of use of mobile internet to access news and the samples were categorized as the digital natives, i.e. the students of the faculty, and the digital immigrants, i.e. the academics and administrative staff of the faculty. 264 participants agreed to give feedback by answering questionnaires. Before the questionnaire, a pre-test with 50 participants was implement, and the Cronbach Alfa value, which evaluates the reliability of the research, was 0,76 for "the information media", and 0,91 for "the access to information and participation". The findings of the present research demonstrate that there is a difference, or a digital divide, between the digital native participant group and the digital immigrant participant group in the use of mobile internet for the access to information.
