Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the change in comprehension and perception of people about space with the increasing internet is discussed from a sociological perspective. This study focuses on digitalization and space concepts change, especially during the Covid-19 Pandemic period. How digital networks (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.) affect today's understanding of space, especially in the current Covid-19 Pandemic with the introduction of digitalization into human life more widely as of 2020, was first examined through the theoretical development of the concepts in sociological literature and then a qualitative field study was carried out. As a result of the age of technology, today digitalization has entered every aspect of our lives and changed our ideas and perception about space. Today people overcome temporal and spatial distance problems and they can easily reach other people or audiences at one end of the world. In this context, the aim of the research is to investigate the change and transformation of the space that has emerged in the public and private spheres and the change in society's perception of space. The study explored how today's media tools, social media, and digital networks affect space with very different extensions and dimensions in social life and how people perceive the place.
