A qualitative research on the relationship between digitalization and morality

In this study, the relationship between digitalization and morality has been put forward on a theoretical basis and has been completed with a qualitative research that includes the analysis of philosophical views. Digitalization in the philosophical aspect, evaluated through the moral state of man in response to his individual and social needs in the new world created by digitilization. The Digital Age is an age in which attention is increasing on the moral-human relationship, which is thought to be out of the ordinary. It is of great importance for social sciences to reveal the current situation specific to this period. Similarly, it is necessary to take a philosophical look at several of the new challenges that have emerged in the wake of the advancements made to technology and the digitalization process. In the study, first of all, new concepts and problems specific to the Digital Age were examined. After discussing the existence of digitalization as a technical and technological possibility, the relationship between digital world and morality is discussed. Based on the normative theories of moral philosophy, the issue of morality in the Digital Age we live in has been tried to be explained through the existing philosophical ethos. It is necessary to analyze several similar problems which can be refered newly that emerged during technological developments and digitalization period, with a philosopcical focus. In this research which questions morality philosophy's current state, it is aimed to analyze the viewpoints expressed by university faculty members on digitalization and ethics in a phenomenological method. We followed a phenomenological method in analyzing the viewpoints expressed by university faculty members on digitalization and ethics. The viewpoints of lectures about digitilization and morality who are working on morality philosopyh field in different universities in Turkey, have been collected in depth interviews which held with them. We conducted in-depth interviews with moral philosophers from several Turkish universities to ascertain their views on digitization and morality, after which data were presented with descriptive analysis.
