A bibliometric analysis on the digitalization process: Comparison of Turkey and selected countries

Information and communication technologies, which started towards the end of the 20th century and furthered its development, have become one of the guiding forces of today. The increase in the rates of adopting and using technology in has brought social life, economy, production forms as well as consumption patterns and social changes and developments with it. Especially the developments in the economic field have revealed the digitalization of the economy and the concept of digital economy. In this study, Bibliometric Analysis Method was used in order to determine the publication trends of academic articles in the digital economy context in the international literature besides keyword content analysis, the evolution of the concepts used over the years, the most cited, most contributing journals, authors and countries. For the analysis, a search was made in the Web of Science database with the keyword "digital economy", and all studies in this field were revealed. According to the findings, the country that produces the most articles is Russia and the most cited country is United Kingdom. In addition, the most influential writer; Mark Graham and the journal with the highest h-index is Information Economics and Policy. Based on the results, in the evaluation based on the countries with the highest number of academic studies, it was understood that the economies of the countries with the highest number of academic publications are also developed. But the number of studies is not directly related to the degree of digitalization of the countries. Keywords: Digitalization, Digital economy, Industry 4.0, Bibliometric Analysis
