Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, through the existing literature, the effects of the interaction between human beings and the environment upon space are examined. Under the title ?Spatial Organization?, the concepts of culture-occupant relationship and privacy are discussed. As a result of the research conducted, it is concluded that built environment is a product of the clashes between structure and space, and structure and occupant. In order to examine this argument, some anonymous settlements bearing the simplest examples of structure-space and structureoccupant relationships are mentioned and the continuity of the transfer of structure in these settlements is emphasized. It is also put forward that this continuity is affected in anonymous settlements where cultural diversity and different techniques of space production co-exist. Through a fieldwork carried out in Yahşibey settlement using space syntax technique, factors that influence spatial continuity in culturally diverse places are scrutinized. The analyses of the space syntax application are discussed using the concept of privacy, and are associated with the cultural diversity of the occupants. Taking the buildings in Yahşibey settlement into account, it is argued that groups of structures having similar relationships with space maintain spatial continuity outside the structure, and that groups of structures having diverse relationships with space break the spatial continuity inside the structure.
