The comparison of the parent's of the children who are and are not diagnosed with attention defict disorder and hyperactivity disorder in terms of attention deficit disorder and hyperactivity disorder diagnosis, perfectionism and spiritual development concepts

The goal of this research was to compare the parents of the children between 7-18 years of age with and without Attention Defici and Hyperactivity Disorder diagnosis, in terms of Perfectionism and Spiritual Growth concepts. The sample of the research was composed of 135 parents residing in Bursa province, who had children between the ages of 7 to 18, who were diognised with ADHD and 135 parents whose children did not have a diagnosis of ADHD. The participants were evaluated with Personal Information Form, Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Self-Report Scale ( ASRS), Healthy Lifestyle Behaviour II, Spiritual Growth Subscale and Multidimentional Perfectionism Scale. SPSS v21 ( Statistical Package for Social Sciences ) programme was used to analyze the data. SPSS v21 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences ) programme was used for statistical analysis of the data collected in the research. Pearson Correlation Analysis was used for evaluating the relation between the data. Chi-square analysis was used to determine the significance of the differences between the categorical variables, independent samples t-test for the comparison between the two groups with normal distribution, one way ANOVA variance analysis for more than two groups, and Tukey post hoc analysis to determine which group caused the differences in unidirectional variance analysis. As a result of the research it was detected that ADHD was seen more frequently in the parents of the children with ADHD. There was a significant relation between ADHD and age and gender variables, and there was a significant relationship between ADHD and perfectionism concepts. Any relations between ADHD and spiritual development had not been determined.
