Abstract (EN)

This study was designed to reveal the relationship between sensory processing skills of children with ADHD and analysis of blood serum level values, which is objective measurement methods. 104 ADHD children with a mean age of 7.67 ± 1.39 participated in the study. Sensory processing skills of the participants who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were evaluated with the Sensory Profile Test Caregiver Questionnaire. Blood serum levels of urea, creatinine, ALT, AST, TSH, free T3, free T4, zinc, folic acid, vitamin D, vitamin B12 and ferritin were measured in fasting blood. Sensory processing skills of the participants as sensory processing, modulation, behavioral and emotional responses; blood serum levels were analyzed in detail at normal-low-high reference levels in accordance with unit and age-gender factors. The level of correlation between findings and values was analyzed statistically using the Pearson test. It was revealed that there was a negative significant correlation with creatinine (p<0.05) and also a strong positive correlation with zinc, vitamin B12 and folic acid values, between the sensory processing of the children with ADHD. It was determined that modulation ability was positively significant (p<0.05) with urea and free T4; positively strong correlation with creatinine (p<0.01); and a negative strong relation (p<0.01) with zinc, vitamin B12 and folic acid values. In addition, it was found that behavioral and emotional responses were positively correlated with free T4 value (p<0.01), while a strong negative correlation with vitamin B12 and folic acid (p<0.01).
