The interpretation problems due to cultural language changes regarding inter-language pratations

Every literary product is the product of history, culture, language and literature tradition. A literary product is for the readers of its own century; however it is inevitable that the time makes changes regarding language and culture. Due to such a change the literary product may be unreadable and hard to understand for the readers.The research problematic of this essay is the question of how to present the literary product which has been produced in the past to the readers of today. Therefore, the aim of this essay is as follows;a)what shall be the method to deliver the old text to the readers of today?b)shall the literary product be published just as its original copy or shall be re-written in a way that the readers may understand the language of the text?In order to find the answers of these questions, we have studied and researched interpretation theories because interpretation is carried out also for transferring the cultural matters to the next generation. That is called inter-language interpretation. In this context, we have studied ?İntibah? in order to underline the interpretation problems due to cultural and language changes regarding inter-language interpretation.It has been impossible to study the original copy of this literary product since we are not fully capable of Ottoman language. In this essay it is concluded that the old literary product shall be interpreted if it is decided to be published for the next generation because the literary product is for reading. The reader wants to read and understand the text. An effective and functional interpretation is the one that meets the expectations of the reader. The conclusion of this essay may be an example for works regarding updating our past values.
