The use of cartoon films as a tool in the acquisition of values in the process of religious education: Mutlugiller cartoon movie example

In today's world, it is clear that technological devices such as televisions, phones, computers and tablets have become widespread. It is also clear that childiren are intertwined with technology and all kinds of technological tools. Research also shows that childiren access many visual and auditory broadcast through these devices. Since values are also given by the aforementioned technological devices, cartoons, which are among the visual broadcast through which childiren receive value education, are the subject of this study. In the study in which Diyanet TV channel cartoons were examined in terms of values education, the Mutlugiller cartoon, which is a puppet series, was determined as a sample. The study was limited to 56 episodes of the Mutlugiller cartoon. The method of the study was qualitative research and the design was determined as a case study. In addition, the 56 episodes of the Mutlugiller cartoon were analyzed by means of tables, including the values taught and the way the values were given. When the Mutlugiller cartoon, one of the cartoons on the Diyanet TV channel, was examined in terms of values education, it was determined that a total of 14 values were covered, including love, respect, friendship, tolerance, contentment, sensitivity, helpfulness, hospitality, self-control, responsibilitiy, patience, altruism, greetings and trutfulness or honesty. Among the values covered, love was the most frequently covered value since it was mentioned 78 times, while altruism was the least frequently covered value since it was mentioned 2 times.
