Acute effects of dynamic resistance exercises on penalty performance

Abstract (EN)
Within the football?s general structure and exercise applications, penalty kick and different dynamic resistance exercises maintain their importance. These exercises are needed for the football players? technical and performance development. These practices are applied to improve the productivity before and after the competition.In this study, acute effects of different dynamic resistance exercises applied after general warm-up exercises on penalty performance are analyzed. Considering that which application among general warm-up and dynamic resistance applications improves performance and that this application must be performed before penalty kick, in the question of which dynamic resistance application(s) it has positive effects on performance is researched.By this study, after the literatures about football, exercise information and sport physiology are given; weight and height of football players are measured. After these measurements, with one day intervals, dynamic resistance applications are performed after general warm-up. Dynamic resistance applications are performed in the forms of squat with body weight load, rubber band and vibration application. After 2-4 minutes following the applications, penalty kick performance are measured with standard soccer ball. Measurements are carried out with pistol radar (Sports Radar, FL). In this study, control group of general warm-up protocol is designed as other warm-up and dynamic resistance protocol test group. To find the difference on penalty performance between warm-up and dynamic resistance protocols, ANOVA test is carried out in repetitive measurements. According to ANOVA statistics, it is understood that applied dynamic resistance protocols have meaningful difference on penalty performance. (F: 17.867; p< 0,001).According to ANOVA test, it is determined that squat with body weight load application, rubber band application and vibration application have positive acute effects on penalty kick performance by %5,2, %5,0 and %6,3 respectively. Results showed that dynamic resistance exercises have positive effects on performance if those are applied just before penalty application.Therefore, these dynamic resistance applications are recommended to be performed before penalty kicks. Although, it is controversial whether dynamic resistance exercises are to be applied in competitions, it should not be ignored that these exercises have positive effects on penalty performance.Key Words: Dynamic, Resistance, Penalty, Soccer (Football)
