Abstract (EN)

The first six years of a child's life constitute a critical period for development. Research shows that between the ages of 3 and 6, children complete a substantial part of their physical, cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and moral development. During this stage, family, environment, and teachers serve as significant role models. Directing children's energy toward play supports the learning process most effectively, while teaching abstract concepts through concrete examples enhances retention. Therefore, preschool education institutions provide not only cognitive and social skills but also an important environment for instilling religious and moral values. With the legal regulation enacted in 2012, the barriers preventing children from learning the Qur'an were removed, and by 2013, the Presidency of Religious Affairs introduced Qur'an courses for children aged 4-6. The primary aim of these courses is to introduce religious concepts, values, and practices to children through a play- and activity-based approach, thereby raising awareness. The program emphasizes values education, supported by age-appropriate materials and teaching methods. The present study was conducted in Osmaniye, a province that forms a cultural mosaic due to migration from various regions. The Provincial Mufti's Office has ensured that Qur'an courses for children aged 4-6 are accessible in different parts of the city. Accordingly, this research aims to evaluate the contribution of these courses to children's religious and moral development, based on the views of instructors and parents.
