Transformation of religiousness in popular novel with religious content

In this thesis, the transformation of religiosity from the 1980s to the present has been analyzed. The aim of the study is to examine the religiosity shown through heroes in popular novels with religious content in the context of the transformation of everyday life. In this context, the formation and transformation of the distances constructed by individuals regarding the visibility of Islamic knowledge and culture has been examined in detail in the study. In the theoretical background of the thesis, a framework that makes it possible to read the experience of novel heroes in the context of the interaction between structure and agency has been highlighted. In the study, the changing areas and practices of everyday life; environmental-social factors, social relations, self-presentation, everyday practices and spatial presence that show the formation of the perception of religiosity and the potential to affect perception have formed. The study was designed with the qualitative research method and analyzed with the content analysis technique. 655 codes were obtained by using the MAXQDA (2022) program in coding the analyzes. In line with the analyzes, it was concluded that the experiences in applying religious knowledge have undergone a transformation from an encompassing effect to an individualizing effect. In addition, the experiences of the novel heroes have shown that the effect of individualization is reflected in the form of purification from the social conditions (history, politics, culture, etc.) that frame the daily orientation of people with religious knowledge, establishing a rational human-god relationship by achieving positive religious perception and spontaneity, self-realization.
