Water purification in religions conception of baptism in Christianity

The concept of sacred is at the center of religious beliefs and almost everything related to religion is associated with sacred. İn this situation, holytime, holy book, holy place, holy water and etc. Are found in studies related with the history of religous. For this reason, in the first part of the our studies which we tried to reveal what is sacred. The existence of water for living life has led to a holiness in almost all religions. Water, both from the expressions in the sacred texts of religions and from mythologies, it was seen as the starting material of life and believed to be source of life. Water, was accepted like renewal, cteaning and purification in the religous and it was seen as the basic means of becoming püre and clean by the spiritual dirt in the worlds of faith. İt may be the the most çömmen belief phenomenon that water is used in various religions before worship, in death ceremonies, initiation ceremonies, in situations of sexual relations are considered as a spiritual pollution. According to this thought, in the second part of our study, it is tried to examine the prts where water is used for means of purification in many ritual such as initiation ceremonies, pre-worship ceremonies, death ceremonies; water is used as a means of spiritual cleaning in various religions. Christianity was born as a reform movement in Judaism, especially it become a seperate religion seperated from Judaism after the Apostle Council. After this council, the rituals of water purification in Judaism began tor ise slowly from Christianity. İn Christianity, the sacramental meaning of water is given by baptismal ritual. İn the early days of Christianity baptism as an initiation ceremony has undergone a number of semantic and formal changes in the historical process. Today, baptism is regarded as the most important sacrament in Christianity and it is believed to contain many secrets. İn the third part of our study, the meaning of baptism in the Christianity, the historical origin baptism, the manner and time of baptism such as the new place the New Tastament light and sectarian differences were also tried to be worked.
