Özet (EN)
Microorganisms colonizing the mouth as a result of operations performed in dental hospitals have a very high risk of contaminating the environment, equipment used, patients and healthcare workers. Detection of contamination factors is of great importance in establishing correct sterilization methods. In this context, in this study, it was aimed to detect the bacteria that cause contamination in dental clinics, to determine the antibiotic resistance of these isolated bacteria and to evaluate the inhibition activity of some substances against these bacteria. For this purpose, bacteria were isolated from different parts of the dental hospital and the antibiotic susceptibilities of these bacteria were determined by the agar disc diffusion method using seven different antibiotic discs such as imipenem/cilastatin (20 µg), erythromicin (30 µg), ciproflaxacin (30 µg), streptomycin (25 µg), cefdinir (30 µg), azithromycin (30 µg) and tobramycin (30 µg). Then, thymol; C10H16O, thyme oil, zinc pyrithone; (C10H8N2O2S2Zn) and magnesium monoperoxyphthalate; C16H10MgO10 inhibitory activity of the substances against these bacteria was determined by the agar well diffusion method. As a result of the study, 16 bacteria were isolated from the dental hospital and these bacteria were identified as Staphylococcus warneri, S. hominis, S. aureus, S. lentus, S. epidermidis, S. sciuri, Buduicia aquatica, Micrococcus sp., and Kocuria kristinae using VITEK 2. It can be said that bacteria are generally sensitive to antibiotic, but they develop resistance to the antibiotic cefdinir at a rate of 35%. However, the low concentrations of zinc pyrithone was found to have potent inhibitory activity for almost all bacteria. When the results are evaluated, it can be said that staphylococci are commonly found around the dental hospital and these bacteria have the potential to gain resistance to some antibiotics and disinfectants over time. In this context, it can be said that it may be advantageous to supplement alternative disinfectants with zinc pyrithone in the fight against these resistant pathogens.
