Abstract (EN)

In today?s world where competition is tight, reducing the costs, or at least keeping them fixed while increasing the quality, is the foundries? key to compete successfully. Planning and development efforts during the production phase makes it possible to achieve high quality and minimum cost targets by looking into various possibilities. Quality and low cost in the production of cast metal depends on the casting method chosen and can be achieved with a well-planned, optimum mold design. The patterns, gating system and the feeders must be designed efficiently to obtain an optimum mold design. In this study, vertical flaskless molding or disamatic molding method, one of the automatic sand casting methods, is investigated, and production time, casting defects, and the gating systems, which have an impact on both the quality and the cost, are examined.Entry of the melted metal into the mold, gating system components, which help fill in the mold cavities, and their interactions with each other are studied. In addition, characteristics of four different gating systems are investigated, gating system components for these four systems are designed for a sample to be produced with the disamatic molding method, and the results are compared.Key words: Disamatic molding, gating system, vertical flaskless molding
