Abstract (EN)

Gears are machine elements mostly used for transmitting motion and power through one shaftto another. From automotive industry to medical solutions, gears are being used wheneverpower transmission is mentioned. The disadvantages of the classic gear design methology is the period of time spent, the humanerror factor, thus the higher design costs. A gear is not only required to fulfill some specificneeds, but also to be designed according to the international standards and codes. As high speed computers are gaining popularity with an ever increasing speed and beingmoreand more affordable, alternative methologies are being offered to mechanicalengineering, as are most engineering disciplines. With the help of a database consisting ofprevious user experience, technical codes, formulas, tables and standards, the user is able tohave a computer program design some or all of the criteria set for a design, or consult thedatabase for a specific need.A description and classification information has been given in this study, and a program waswritten for involute cylinder spur gears in Visual Basic and Excel application. A case studycomparing the conventional design according to DIN and the computer program?s results hasbeen conducted. Keywords: Spur gears, CAD, machine elements, design, program
