Values in Divanu Lugati't Türk

Dictionaries are not only the books that show the number of words in a language but they are also cultural attaches that gives clues about a language's memory and the life of nation that it belongs to. They are also the transporter of cultures. In this study, the values in Divânu Lugâti't Türk, which is an encyclopedic dictionary written by Kaşgarlı Mahmud, has a primavel place in Turkish history and in Turkish language are analysed, the values that we have today are also compared to those included in our book that is written 1000 years ago. Before indicating the values, information about the life of Kaşgarlı Mahmut is given, both the structure and the aim of writing are explained. In this study, the words and the proverbs, idioms, poems and explanations that explains words are analysed, words, the place where the words are used and the meanings of the words are conveyed as it's mentioned in the dictionary and then the values mentioned directly or indirectly are defined and conveyed to relevant title. As a result of the study, it's defined that Divan-u Lugati't Türk contains many values such as justice,grace, amity and hospitality.
