ABSTRACT THE VERBS OF DİVANÜ LÜGATİ'T-TÜRK WHICH STILL BEING USED IN NEW UIGHUR TURKISH LANGUAGE Mehmet ÇAPUR Ms. Thesis, The Turkish Language and Literature Department Supervisor: Doç. Dr. A. Deniz ABİK October, 2004/XII+488 pages In this study, the verbs contained in Divanü Lügati't-Turk compared to the verbs of the New Uighur Turkish Language. At the end of the study, it's determined that 1019 of the 3652 verbs of Divanü Lügati't-Türk are living in the New Uighur Turkish Language, some of them thought that they share the similar verb roots. This study, tries to establish, through verbs, a linguistict connection between the XI the century's work. Divanü Lügati't-Türk and New Uighur Turkish Language. In other words, it tries to evalvate the Karahanh Turkish Language which was the first literature language of the Eastern Turkish Language and the New Uighur Turkish Language which has an important role of the Eastern Turkish Language, according to the voices, meanings, and the structure with the help of the "verbs". Introduction comprises of verbs, value of the verbs in our vocabulary and the aim of choosing Divanü Lügati't-Türk and New Uighur Turkish Language and the sources of the New Uighur Turkish Languae. Analysis section divided into five main topics. In part one there are 1019 verbs obtained from comparisions of the Divanü Lügati't-Türk and the New Uighur Turkish Language. Section two examines the shared verbs according to the phonology and classified as "change of the vowels and the consonants at the start and the middle of the words", hoplologies, devided voices, methathesis and voice similarities. In part three the shared verbs examined according to their meanings and these verbs classified as "verbs that have not undergone meaning change", "verbs that have similar meanings", "verbs that have expanded meanings", "verbs that have lessened meanings" and "verbs that have undergone meaning change". Part four examines the shared verbs according toVI their structure, titled as simple verbs and verbs are derived from nouns and verbs. Part five examines the verbs that have figurative and meaning similarities in order to think of their associated verb roots and they called "root acssociated verbs" The section after the analysis part is the evelvation and the conclusion section. This section tries to make a conclusion by the help of the data obtained from the analysis part. At the last section of the study, there is an alphabetical index of the associated verbs of Divanü Lügati 't-Türk and New Uighur Turkish Language.
