The rates of achieving target outcomes among patients attending the diabetes outpatient clinic. AIM: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease characterized by hyperglycemia, resulting from either total or partial insulin deficiency or insulin resistance. In this study, the rates of achieving target goals and the impact of treatment regimens on demographic and laboratory parameters were evaluated in patients presenting to the Diabetes Outpatient Clinic at Sakarya Training and Research Hospital (SEAH). MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 1,014 patients receiving diabetes medication at the Sakarya Training and Research Hospital's Diabetes Outpatient Clinic between January 1, 2023, and October 30, 2024, were included in the study. Data, including demographic details (age, sex) and laboratory parameters (HbA1c, glucose, creatinine, sodium, potassium, cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL, ALT, AST, TSH, T4, protein, albumin, globulin, iron, ferritin, vitamin B12, folate, ESR, CRP, complete blood count, and urinalysis), were retrieved from the hospital's information system. Patients were grouped by their treatment regimens: insulin, oral antidiabetics (OADs), or a combination of both. RESULTS: Of the 1,014 patients, 40.3% were male and 59.7% female. The average age was 58.9±11.19 years, and mean HbA1c was 7.8±5.3. 34.5% reached the HbA1c target, 12% reached LDL, and 4% met both. Patients were grouped into three treatment regimens: 748 on OAD, 65 on insulin, and 194 on both. Significant differences were found in age, glucose, HbA1c, sedimentation, and creatinine levels, but no differences in vitamin B12, cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, or HDL. CONCLUSİON: In our study, the proportion of patients who achieved the HbA1c target was 34.5%, while the rate for the LDL target was 12%, and 4% reached both targets. Significant differences were found in age, glucose, HbA1c, sedimentation, and creatinine levels based on treatment regimens. These results emphasize the importance of an individualized approach in the management of diabetes mellitus. Keywords: Diabet, Hba1c, insulin, oral antidiabetic
