Özet (EN)
The effects of mobilization methods applied to respiratory problems in obese individuals are unknown. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the effects of diaphragmatic mobilization techniques on respiratory functions, fatigue, sleep quality, anxiety and depression in obese individuals. Individuals between the ages of 18-65 who have Body Mass Index (BMI) values above 30 kg/m2 were included in the study. The sociodemographic information was recorded, and random diaphragmatic mobilization group (n=20) and control group (n=20) were divided into two groups randomly. Diaphragmatic mobilization techniques (diaphragm translation technique, diaphragm stretching technique, diaphragm eight technique) were applied to the treatment group for an average of 15-20 minutes, 2 sessions per week, for a total of 4 weeks. No intervention was made to obese individuals in the control group. Necessary evaluations were made before and after the study in both groups. Respiratory functions of individuals with spirometer device, respiratory muscle strength with respiratory muscle strength measurement device, resting metabolic rate with indirect calorimeter device, dyspnea with Modified Medical Research Dyspnea Scale, fatigue levels were evaluated by Fatigue Impact Scale, sleep quality Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index, anxiety and depression Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale, quality of life was evaluated by the Short Form-36 (SF-36). In our study, in the comparison of the difference values of both groups, FEF (25-75%), MVV (%), (L) parameters, respiratory muscle strength measurement parameters, fatigue, sleep quality, depression, SF-36; There was a statistically significant difference in physical function and energy sub-parameters (p <0.05). In conclusion, diaphragmatic mobilization techniques were seen to be a safe and feasible approach that could improve respiratory functions, sleep and quality of life of obese individuals and reduce fatigue symptoms. It is thought that these effects should be examined in different disease groups with more cases in future studies.
