The subject of this study is to present musical footprint of Dengbêj tradition which is one of the oral traditions conducted by Kurdish ethnicity who lives generally in Turkey, especially in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia. Whena Dengbêj is defined, he should be defined not only as a vocalist, but also as a culture bearer who conveys the culture of the past and carries the past of the Kurdish ethnicity to the future. Due to the low literacy rate in the research area in the past years, people have expressed orally their stories, experiences and epics that deal with pain, love, longing, heroism, etc. For this reason, dengbêjler (song readers), çirokbêjler (story tellers) and destanbêjler (epic teller), who are the carriers of culture, have an important place in Kurdish oral culture. In this study, while the tradition of dengbêj in the province of Diyarbakır was examined, it was also aimed to obtain results about how this tradition was maintained and to obtain results about which musical structures were performed while performing the tradition. Video-sound of the songs which were read in Diyarbakır dengbêj house were recorded and 32 works (songs) in terms of musical notes and lyrics, the musical practices of dengbêjs in Diyarbakir and their traditional structure were analysed. Moreover, some results were elicited from theoretical analysis, subject themes and execution techniques of the types including kilam (traditional songs) and stran (songs) performed by dengbêjs in the history.
