Analyzing the effect of the peace education training program?s on self ? esteem, conflict styles and emphaty levels of the primary school teachers in the villages of Eğil/ Diyarbakır

The aim of this search analyzes the effect of the Peace Education programme on teachers working in the primary schools of the Turkish Ministry of Education in Eğil/Diyarbakır, on their self-respect, conflict styles empathetic tendency levels.There were 60 people that divided into 30 people as experiment group and 30 people as control group. The forms the sample of the research who were chosen randomly out off teachers worked in the 2008-2009 academic year in the schools of the Turkish Ministry of Education?s primary schools in the villages of Eğil/ Diyarbakır.In this research has been used the Rosenberg Self-respect scale, Conflict Resolution Questionnaire, the Empathy Tendency Scale, ?A personal information form? was prepared by the researcher. Research duration the twelve weeks of peace education and a post-test have been applied to the experiment group; a pre-test and a post-test have been applied to the control group. It is an experiment research. At the end of the experimental operation, have been analyzed by the SPSS 13.00 computer program the t-test has been used. The importance level has been taken as 0.05 in the research.As a result of the study between experimental and control groups, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale with subscales; in self-esteem (0,043), the duration permanence of the ?self? concept (0,043), trust in people (0,032), sensitivity to criticism (0,023), depressive emotionality (0,050), feeling threat in interpersonal relations (0,010), the level of participation in arguments(0,025), empathy level (0,005), subscales problem solving (0,023), is seen a significant increase in aggressive behavior skills (0.043) and that bargainer (0.043) was identified as a significant decrease in size (p?0,05). When the data of control group has been evaluated, there were not meaningful differences between the pre-test and post-test results.Key Words: Peace Education, Self Respect, Empathy, Conflict Styles.
