Abstract (EN)

In this survey, the herpetofauna of Diyarbakır province was investigated. A total 115 specimens were collected from different localities of the study area. Approximately 200 samples were seen in the field but could not be collected. The collected samples were brought to laboratuary properly and examined. The morphological characteristics such as pholodisis, length of body and color-patterns have been investigated. The ecological characteristics of habitats of the samples were also given. The obtained data were compared with previously published accounts on Southeast Anatolia Region herpetofauna and similarities and differentations of the species analysed. Specimens have been deposited in the Zoology Museum of Biology Department of Dicle University. As a result, 26 species determined belong to the herpetofauna of Diyarbakır province. The determined species account as below: 4 amphibi; Bufo viridis, Hyla arborea, Hyla savignyi and Rana ridibunda; 3 Testudinata; Mauremys caspica, Rafetus euphraticus and Testudo graeca; 9 Lacertilia; Lacerta cappadocica, Lacerta trilineata, Ophisops elegans, Mabuya aurata, Mabuya vittata, Eumecus schneideri, Cyrtopodion heterocercus, Laudakia stellio, Trapelus ruderatus; 10 Ophidia; Eryx jaculus, Coluber caspius, Coluber najadum, Coluber jugularis, Coluber schmidti, Eirenis decemlineatus, Eirenis lineomaculatis, Natrix natrix, Natrix tessellata and Vipera lebetina. Coluber schmidti was observed but could not be collected.
