Abstract (EN)

This research aimed to examine children's picture books on natural disasters prepared for preschool children. For this purpose, a document review was conducted using the criterion sampling method, which is one of the purposeful sampling methods, to determine the study group. 20 illustrated children's books were included in the research. "Natural Disaster Themed Children's Illustrated Books Evaluation Form", prepared in line with the relevant literature, was used to examine these books. Books in line with this form; It was examined under 5 headings: physical properties, illustration, content, plot and language. In the study, the data were analyzed using the content analysis method, one of the methods used in the analysis of qualitative research. Accordingly, research data were coded and categories were created and examples of these were presented in tables. As a result of the research, it was aimed to use illustrated children's books dealing with the subject of natural disasters to raise children's awareness about natural disasters. For this reason, it was determined to be suitable according to the physical characteristics, illustration, content, plot and language features examined within the scope of the research. Considering the needs of children to be directly or indirectly aware of natural disasters and to be informed about what to do, suggestions have been made, such as increasing the number of publications of qualified printed illustrated children's books.
