Abstract (EN)
This study has been conducted in Eastern Mediterrenean Region (Adana, Mersin, Osmaniye, Hatay) between 2015-2018. The survey of Phenacoccus madeirensis Green (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae), biology of this pest on different host plants in laboratory conditions, population dynamics of P. madeirensis on different vegetable plants on field conditions, and biological control oppurtunities of this pest has been studied within this thesis. According to results of this study, the occurrence of P. madeirensis has been detected on ornamentals and vegetables in Adana, Mersin, Osmaniye and Hatay provinces. Life table of this pest has been occurred on 4 different vegetables (tomato, pepper, eggplant and pepino) in laboratory conditions and the most suitable host plant for this pest was determined as eggplant. Eggplant has been determined as the most suitable host plant on field conditions as well. In addition, natural enemies of this pest has been determined during survey studies. Effective parasitoid Anagyrus amnestos Rameshkumar et al. (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae) generally parasite 3rd nymphal stage and adult female individuals but most prefered stage was determined as adult female during this study. In addition, it was determined that the parasitoid demonstrated a Holling type II functional response to increasing host density. In conclusion, the biology and biological control of P. madeirensis, which has entered to Turkey in recent times, has been studied within this thesis.
