Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to determine some persistant organic pollutants (POPs) such as PCBs (Polychlorinatedbiphenyls) 28, 52, 101, 118, 153,138, 180, HCB (hekzaklorobenzen), sum HCH (Heksaklorosiklohekzan), sum DDT (dichloro diphenol trichloroethane) in the muscle tissues of the two different fish species: Seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax) and Wels (Silurus glanis) which were caught from the following sea coasts Mersin Port, Adana (Karataş and Yumurtalık), İskenderun Bay (İskenderun, Dörtyol, Arsuz, Samandağ) and also from following fresh water sources: Adana (Seyhan and Ceyhan Rivers), Hatay (Asi River), Tarsus (Berdan stream) and Mersin(Müftü Stream). The highest contaminant level was identified for PCB derivatives. Residue levels were determined quantitativelyby using GC-NPD and compared with acceptable contaminant levels. As a result of assessment ratios of persistent organic pollutant were determined,?- BHC 42.2 %, ß- BHC 8.88 %, ?- BHC 31.1%, HCB 17.7%, ? BHC 60%, o,p?- DDE 46.6%, p,p?- DDE 48.8%, o,p?- DDT 24.4%, p,p?- DDT 24.4%, ? DDT 80%, PCB28 82.8%, PCB52 86.6%, PCB101 73.3%, PCB118 53.3%, PCB138 17.7%, PCB153 4.5%, PCB180 44.4%, respectively.
