Detection and identification of virus diseases in groundnut grown in East Mediterranean region

Abstract (EN)

The main objective of this study to determine and identify virus diseases in groundnut grown in East Mediterranean region. Groundnut Bud Necrosis Virus (GBNV), Peanut Stunt Virus (PSV) and Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus (TSWV) were searched by using the biological and serological methods. Survey trials were carried out in groundnut fields of Osmaniye, Adana, Mersin and Kahramanmaraş in 2004-2006 years. The samples of groundnut plants to be virus-infected were collected from the groundnut fields. Firstly, these samples of the groundnut plants were tested for GBNV and PSV by ELISA. It was not determined the positive value for the PSV in the end of the test results. Mechanical inoculation for the GBNV was applied to two samples to be GBNV-infected. Symptoms of the GBNV were not observed in test plants in the end of the inoculation result. As a result, any crop disease was symptomlogically and serologically determined in the groundnut plants grown in surveyed region. In addition, Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus (TSWV) was inoculated to groundnut seedlings grown in contorelled condition with mechanical inoculation. The groundnut seedlings have symptoms were tested by the ELISA and two positive sample were determined. Key Words: Groundnut, GBNV, PSV, ELISA, TSWV Mechanical inoculation
