Eastern mediterranean energy transmission lines in Turkey-Eu relations: Analysis of securitization process

In today's world, where the importance of the term energy is increasing, energy; is a development standard for states. The increasing energy need in the world markets placed the concept of energy security in the first place in international politics, and the concept of security expanded with its energy, social events and economic policy. This expansion has brought with it some problems. In other words safe removal and transport of energy resources in the international community has become the most important problem. The relations between the European Union and Russia, the most important export partner of Russia in the hydrocarbon resources, were stretched by the Ukraine Energy Crises in 2006-2009. The European Union recognizes the need for addressing resource diversification for energy security; recently, the Eastern Mediterranean has turned to energy sources. Although the Eastern Mediterranean energy resources are at the bottom of the world energy view, they are close to the Middle East region rich in hydrocarbon resources, being a center of world maritime trade for Europe, and having neighbors with a complex network of relations with each other. It has placed the Mediterranean at the top of international politics. In the Eastern Mediterranean, not only the sources discovered but also the extraction and transportation of resources is a problem. Even the projects envisaged for the transfer of the resources discovered to Europe safely are among the disputes in the region. One example of this is the East-Med project, which is seen as one of the ways of securing the European Union's energy security. With the support of the European Union, the project has not been developed due to the high cost and low efficiency encountered in the project, and the European Union has lagged behind its plans to ensure energy security.
