East Anatolian Region Erzurum city decorating of oltu stone and study on usage fields by the point of hand labor craftsmanship

In this research, according to the views of the foremen who are working on operating of Stone Oltu in Erzurum and also the views of the edıcation staff working in Oltu Professional Institution of Higher Education Department of Precious Stone and Metal the phases of Stone Oltu from past to the present, its position in our life and the fields of usage of it have been studied. The extent of this study consists of the people who are dealing with Stone Oltu business in Erzurum. Because of not reaching to the whole of the extent of thisresearch, the examples only havebeen taken out. In the scope of this research an information form for the products made from Stone Oltu and also a poll form fort he foremen who are dealing with Stone Oltu business have been used. Both the information forms and the poll forms have been tabled and the results have been declared by tabling them in percentage. In the end of this research; 1. The operating of Stone Oltu is gradually losing its importance in hand labor craftsmanship and also this profession is gradually disappearing. vii viii 2. Because the foremen who are dealing with business of Stone Oltu can not market their products they can not get enough payment for their efforts and so they are thinking of giving up this job. 3. Although the number of foremen who are dealing with business of Stone Oltu is gradually decreasing little by little they are in difficulty in finding apprentice so as to teach they the details of this job. 4. As the villagers who are manufacturing the Stone Oltu in such hard conditions they can not sell them for a propriate price and the foremen are using the Stones similary Stone Oltu they are about to give up this job. 5. In order develope the business of Stone Oltu In Atatürk University a department called Precious Stone and Metal Business Oltu Professional Institution of Higher Education had been opened, but later the students who graduated from this department could?nt find sufficient emplayment fields that?s why this department of universty couldn?t be in demand any langer. 6. In this research, 41 products have been studied and of all these products rosaries made of gold and silver inlayed have been the things which are in demand most. In the end of this research the suggestions made bye the researcher have been given a place depending upon ( based upon ) matters coming out.
