Özet (EN)

The aim of this research is to examine the factors that prevent academicians from participating in leisure activities and their happiness and life satisfaction. The research group consists of 118 academicians (81% of the population) working in the sports sciences faculties or physical education and sports colleges of the universities in the Eastern Anatolia Region. The participants were given a demographic information form prepared by the researcher, the "Leisure Time Barriers Scale-18" developed by Alexandris and Carroll (1997) and adapted into Turkish by Gürbüz and Karaküçük (2007) and reliability and validity studies were conducted, The "Oxford Happiness Scale Short Form" by Doğan and Akıncı-Çötok (2011), which was developed by Hills and Argyle (2002), and the "Life Satisfaction Scale" developed by Diener, Emmons, Larsen, and Griffin (1985), translated into Turkish by Bekmezci and Mert (2013) and validity and reliability were conducted. .SPSS 22.0 package program was used for statistical analysis of the data. In the analysis of the data, skewness and kurtosis values were checked for the sub-dimension score distribution of the scale and it was seen that the distribution was normal. In this context, the t-test was used to determine whether there was a difference in the comparisons of two groups, and the one-way ANOVA test was used for more than two groups. Pearson Correlation analysis was used to determine the relationship between the sub-dimensions of the scale. While no significant difference was found between the aforementioned scale factors and variables of gender, age, marital status, years of working in the profession, regularly participating in physical activities, type of activity, participating in recreational activities; A significant difference was found between the variables of income status, weekly course hours, and weekly leisure time. In addition, a partially low level of positive correlation was found between the sub-dimensions of the leisure time barriers scale and the happiness scale. Moreover, a moderate positive relationship was found between happiness and life satisfaction total scores. As a result, it is thought that situations such as distress, stress, working conditions in today's business environments can directly affect the lives of individuals. It is thought that as the happiness and life satisfaction levels increase, the problems in the work environment will decrease, individuals will be happier in social activities and therefore their life satisfaction levels will be higher, and higher moral motivation levels can be reached by increasing the free time they allocate for themselves and evaluating these times correctly.
