Eastern Turkish Sermon Collection (Grammar-text-translation-index)

This work, which we are working on as a master's thesis, is in the Jarring Collection of the Swedish Lund University library, Prov. It is located at number 4. We do not know where or when it was written. We think it was written in the 1930s. The person who copied the work is uncertain. Our work consists of Grammar - Text - Translation - Index sections. In the last part of the thesis, the facsimile of the work is included. This study, which we call the Eastern Turkish Sermon Collection, consists of five texts. The first text is the Marriage Sermon, the second text is Explanation of the Shrouding, the third text is Rules of Washing the Dead, the fourth text is Another Way of Washing the Dead, the fifth text is the Farz of the Funeral Prayer. The work, which is the subject of our study, was written in black ink. The text titles and between the lines of the appeal in the text are written in red ink. The "Eastern Turkish Sermon Collection" studied by us consists of 14 leaves. Although the number of lines in the work is 9, only the first page consists of 8 lines. This text that we are working on contains the language features of the late Chagatai Turkish. It will contribute to Turkology studies in terms of illuminating the transition period from Chagatai Turkish to Uzbek and Uyghur Turkish. Keywords: Chagatai Turkish, Eastern Turkish, Sermon
